Mission: ASCE advances professional knowledge and improves the practice of civil engineering as:

· The lead professional organization serving civil engineers and those in related disciplines;

· The focal point for development and transfer of research results, technical policy and managerial information

· The catalyst for effective and efficient service through cooperation with other engineering and related organizations.

 

Leadership: A 28-member Board of Direction governs the Society.  The 2008 President is David G. Mongan, P.E., F.ASCE, and the Executive Director is Patrick J. Natale, P.E., F.ASCE.

 

The society is comprised of 17 District and Regional Councils, four Younger Member Councils, 78 U.S. Sections, 145 U.S. Branches, eight International Sections, 228 Student Chapters, and 29 Student Clubs.

Ohio University Student Chapter

The purpose of the Ohio University student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers is to encourage the professional and personal development of students enrolled in Civil Engineering.  This is accomplished through regular group meetings, professional speakers, field trips, community service, and social events.  In addition, members have the chance to participate in contests to further their knowledge in the field of civil engineering.  Students also have the opportunity to attend conferences such as the Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders and the Regional Conference.
