Data Acquisition Systems on the Truck

CE Research Truck

The Civil Engineering department has several research vehicles for in-situ investigation and monitoring. The Cone Penetrometer Truck, for example, is used for subsurface investigations, including soil strata, moisture and resistivity, and the acquisition of soil and water samples. Other vehicles used for field studies are deployed for data acquisition from sensors in pavements, pipes, and bridges.

Specific vehicles include:

  • Automated Dynamic Cone Penetrometer - for use in soil classification
  • Box Truck - serves as a mobile lab
  • 25-Ton Cone Penetrometer truck
  • Cheverolet Suburban/ Ford F150 - used to transport students and researchers to sites for data collection and research
  • Ford 1-ton Truck - used to haul heavy equipment to project sites
