CE Graduate Program

The Civil Engineering Graduate Program

The graduate programs offered by the Ohio University Civil Engineering Department lead to the M.S. degree in civil engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Integrated Engineering. Areas of specialization for the M.S. degree include:

Environmental
Geotechnical
Geoenvironmental
Mechanics
Structures
Transportation
Water Resources

For the M.S. program, the student prepares a complete course-of-study schedule and a written research proposal before the end of the second quarter of graduate study. This is done in collaboration with the student's advisor and approval by the student's M.S. committee and the department graduate chair. A student must complete a minimum of 45 quarter-credit hours of approved graduate work for the M.S. degree. The student may select either the thesis option or the nonthesis, special investigation/project.

The interdisciplinary program leading to the Ph.D. degree in Integrated Engineering has three focus areas. In the geotechnical and environmental focus, scholarly activity revolves around the University's Center for Geotechnical and Environmental Research under the Ohio Research Institute for Transportation and the Environment.
